Destinations

A folder

The simplest destination: any folder in Files.

Format
NDJSON, JSON, CSV or Metrics JSON
Needs
Nothing but the Files app
Recommended
Yes — start here

Hozz writes batches to any folder in Files: cloud storage, SMB or on-device.

Cloud-backed and on-device folders need no server, open port or VPN. SMB requires its host to remain reachable.

Setting it up#

  1. Choose a folder#

    Anywhere Files can reach.

  2. Let the folder sync#

Hozz writes files; your provider moves them.

  3. Send a test#

A probe file appears in the folder. If you can see it, the destination works.

What lands in the folder#

Files are named so they sort chronologically and cannot collide:

hozz-<timestamp>-<destination>-<sequence>.<ext>
hozz-20260822T211046Z-2f1a9c04-000000.ndjson
hozz-20260822T211046Z-2f1a9c04-000001.ndjson
hozz-20260822T221512Z-2f1a9c04-000002.ndjson

The timestamp, destination id and sequence keep names ordered and unique.

Pick the format on the destination: NDJSON (the default, and lossless), JSON, CSV, or Metrics JSON.

Pairing it with the Mac app#

Point the phone and Mac app at the same synced folder to get charts and assistant access without inbound connections.

When it goes wrong#

  • Hozz could not reach that folder. It may have been moved, renamed, or signed out.Pick the folder again.
  • Hozz no longer has permission to write to that folder.Pick it again to restore access.

The cursor advances only after a successful write, so neither failure loses records.
